Moab Canyonlands in Utah is the ATV mecca of the United States and therefore is one of my favorite places for ATV camping. Moab Canyonlands offers something for every type of ATV rider but it is best known for its technical riding trails. As for ATV camping, Moab Canyonlands offers several great areas depending on your camping preference. The area is surrounded by BLM lands, state parks and national forests.
Moab Canyonlands is definitely an area you will want to plan your time at. For me Moab Canyonlands is a minimum four day ATV camping trip. If you go for two days you will only wish for more time. Even with four days you can’t see it all but you can ride some of the best, most challenging trails the area has to offer.
A must ride trail of Moab Canyonlands is the Poison Spider Mesa trail. This is a very challenging trail and not for the beginner. After Poison Spider the trail takes you to Golden Spike and the Gold Bar Rim. You will experience slick rock, sand and some difficult ledges on this ride. I could easily spend all day on this trail, it is that fun. Do not attempt this trail alone, you want someone to share the story with.
To me the best time to go the the Moab Canyonlands is in April or May as the temperatures are around 70° F during the day. The summer months get very hot. September and October are nice also. If you ride ATVs you probably have heard stories about Moab, it is that popular. Visit CampingATV.com and properly equip your ATV for your next ATV camping adventure.
