When I am on a ATV camping trip, sometimes I don’t know when I will get back to camp after a long ride. While I do like a good hearty dinner after a long ride, typically I have to fend for myself. Sometimes we don’t get back to camp until after dark and all I want to do is sit by the campfire, relax and talk about the days events.
So when it comes to camping food ideas for ATV camping you have to prepare for all types of situations. Sometimes I have time to cook a gourmet meal and other times I don’t. The only meal I sure about is breakfast. As for lunch and dinner you have to be flexible.
Camping food ideas for breakfast are:
- Egg Beaters – Easier to pack than regular eggs and healthier.
- Sausage Links or Patties – Can be frozen and cooks easily.
- Pre-Cooked Hash Brown Patties – Can be frozen and cooks easily.
- Pre-Made Pancake Batter – Easy to pack and cook.
- Pancake Syrup – Individual packets from restaurants.
- Spray Margarine – Easy to pack and use.
- Breakfast Bars – Easy to pack – quick & easy meal.
- Cereal – Easy to pack in ziploc bags.
- Milk – Small individual plastic bottles.
- Shredded Cheese – Can be frozen and used for other meals. Pack in ziploc bags.
- Tortillas – Easy to pack and can be used for other meals.
- Coffee – Must have!
Camping food ideas for lunch are:
- Bread – For sandwiches, best packed in a Tupperware container.
- Sandwich Meat – Can be frozen, pack in ziploc bags.
- Sliced Cheese – Can be frozen and easy to pack.
- MRE or Freeze-Dried Meal – Easy to pack and prepare.
- Hot Dogs or Brats – Can be frozen, easy to prepare.
- Canned Soup or Stew – Easy to pack and prepare. Empty cans must be packed out!
- Condiments – Individual packets from restaurants.
Camping food ideas for dinner are:
- Variety of meals prepared at home and frozen in freezer bags.
- MRE or Freeze-Dried Meal – Easy to pack and prepare.
- Hot Dogs or Brats – Can be frozen, easy to prepare.
- Fish – caught in a nearby lake or stream.
- Hamburgers or Steaks – Can be frozen.
- Potatoes – Easy to pack and cook.
- Canned Soup or Stew – Easy to pack and prepare. Empty cans must be packed out!
Camping food ideas for snacks are:
- Trail Mix – Easy to make at home and packed in ziploc bags.
- Jerky – Easy to pack.
- Dried fruit – Easy to pack.
- Granola Bars – Easy to pack.
- Protein bars – Easy to pack.
- Baby Carrots – easy to pack in a ziploc bag.
Make sure you have a good lightweight camping stove and some camping cookware with utensils. Also with your cookware should be some seasoning, small bottle of cooking oil, and a small bottle of dish soap w/scrub pad. Make sure you have plenty of water and drinks.
