The ATV has become has become an invaluable addition to the back country hunters gear. Just like ATV camping, an ATV enables the hunter to get to some deep remote back country areas not accessible by a full size vehicle. ATV Hunting enables the hunter to easily carry all of their hunting/camping gear in and haul their kill out.
Why hunt crowded areas and easily accessible lands that posed no difficulty for the average hunter, with an ATV the back country areas a hunter can access are known as game animal heaven. For ATV hunting to be successful in the back country the ATV hunter must be respectful of others that may be in the same area and follow fair-chase procedures.
The true ATV hunter will have already scouted the area utilizing ATV camping and hunting tactics to find the best area to hunt and the area to setup camp. When hunting season arrives the ATV hunter will load their ATV with their hunting gear and camping gear and easily travel to the selected campsite.
There are many ATV accessories specifically for the ATV hunter including winches, gun racks, bow racks, cargo boxes & storage bags, camouflage covers, trailers and treestand carriers. These accessories make it easier for carrying gear and helping in the field.
For most most hunters the ATV will stay at the campsite and they will hike to the hunting area to avoid spooking game animals with the ATV. For hunters with disabilities an ATV with an ultra-quiet exhaust system will be used. Some may use electric ATVs but will require a generator or other means at the campsite for recharging the batteries.
Some hunters may used an ATV for hauling their treestand to the hunting area during non-shooting hours. For ATVs used in the field a camouflage ATV cover should be used to help hide the ATV while it is parked. To help comply with fair-chase procedures and general hunting ethics able-bodied hunters should not hunt from an ATV.
In the event of a successful hunt, hunters should retrieve their harvested game during the middle of the day (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) with their ATV to reduce conflicts with other hunters. Hunters need to be aware of the local regulations concerning ATV travel off existing trails to retrieve their game. The use of an ATV Backpacker trailer makes game hauling very easy.

Got great idea, guys!!! Y’all get in your 4-wheelers and your little hunting outfits and get your guns and instead of just killing a dumb animal while it’s eating (not too impressive) – how about this – try to kill off each other and the one who gets out alive is the “winner”. Not good???? Oh I forgot….might be some danger to your precious out-of -shape, flabby butt.
