As an avid ATVer, I thoroughly enjoy this sport and the outdoors and I will continue to defend my right for both. Unfortunately anti-motorist groups and crooked politicians continue to threaten ATV use on public lands. Now I have never been one for politics, in fact I hate politics both in the work place and in government.
I don’t like to beat-around-the-bush, I like to tell it as it is and that does not tend to work so well in a political environment. So I support those that are well versed and politically correct to fight my battles. Today more than ever off-road enthusiasts need to act responsible and fight for our rights.
For my right to ride ATVs I support several organizations. Organizations like TreadLightly!, the BlueRibbon Coalition (BRC), the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Counsel (NOHVCC).
Because CampingATV.com is based in Colorado we are proud business members of the Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition (COHVCO). The COHVCO is a partner of the NOHVCC.
The COHVCO has filed lawsuits against the Colorado Board of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, one specifically over the Boards secret intentions to slash recreational opportunities for the owners of over 120,000 off-highway vehicles who pay into the Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Fund every year by registering their OHVs.
These “secret intentions” are happening all over the United States and are fueled mainly by the anti-motorist groups. Without organizations like TreadLightly!, BRC, the AMA and the NOHVCC most of these “secret intentions” would be enacted into law without any public opinion.
Your membership to these organizations help them to continue the fight and expose the “secret intentions” of the evil doers (anti-motorist groups). If you enjoy riding ATVs and/or OHVs the membership fee is a small price to pay to protect your rights and those of other OHV enthusiasts.
Volunteer with some of your local OHV groups to do trail maintenance and other activities to help preserve the sport. Don’t let the evil doers get their way and stop ATV use on public lands. Get involved and become aware of what is being threatened in your area. Encourage others to do the same and “Stay the Trail“.
Remember that public lands are open to everyone so be respectful of others when you take your ATV out. Continue responsible ATV riding and exercise proper trail etiquette. Don’t be the problem, be part of the solution so that others will enjoy ATVing for generations to come.
