This is a topic that can get very heated in some crowds “Bow Hunting vs. Gun Hunting”. To me there is no better way to hunt that to just be outdoors pursuing the next opportunity. Yet for some it is one method or the other and strong divisional lines have been drawn in some parts.

Bow & Gun HuntersThe true outdoorsman does both bow hunting and gun hunting because both offer the thrill of the hunt and the chance to be outdoors in the back country. Yes some may prefer one method over the other but they would never turn down the chance regardless of the weapon for the opportunity to pursue a trophy.

Bottom line the thrill of the hunt is the driving force for any hunter. Tracking, pursuing and positioning is what makes the sport challenging and exciting, getting a kill is just the reward. But even having to go home empty handed does not make the hunt any less exciting.

Bow hunting is typically limited to about 50 yards where gun hunting has a considerably longer range. With this in mind both use some different tactics and some of the same and both are equally challenging. They are just different methods of hunting but are still hunting.

For me to say one method is better than the other would be ignorant of me. For the hunter that thoroughly enjoys the sport both are ideal because you get a much longer hunting season. Bow hunting is usually the first season then gun hunting so by doing both you get a longer hunting season improving your hunting tactics and increasing your odds of bagging that big one.

The problem is some will only do one method and hate those that do the other and this hurts hunting as a whole. It is these divisional lines that puts a strain on the whole industry and sooner or later the government is going to step in to attempt to calm the waters and we all know what happens when the government gets involved, everybody loses.

When it comes to bow hunting vs. gun hunting there is no obvious winner they are both hunting and by utilizing both you will definitely hone your hunting skills and get to spend more time outdoors. Encourage others to do the same and lets dissolve these divisional lines for the better of hunting in general.
