While camping at 6,800 feet above sea level may seem like High Altitude Camping to some, it’s the average altitude here in Colorado. For Coloradans high altitude camping is anything above 11,000 feet or the tree line. Above this altitude only alpine vegetation grows. Camping at these altitudes requires some extra knowledge and preparation.

I find nothing better than an uncrowded back country campsite next to a lake or stream with family and friends. I have stated before that ATV camping is a lot like primitive camping in that you are camping in the back country at an undeveloped site. But true primitive camping is quite different and takes a trained individual who is an experienced fisherman, hunter and survivalist.

The advantage of motorcycle camping is that you can get to even more remote camping spots using single track trails with a dual-sport motorcycle. Off-road dual-sport motorcycle camping is the type of motorcycle camping I enjoy most.
