This Labor Day weekend was our 2011 annual Taylor Park camping trip. This year we camped east of the little town of Tin Cup, Colorado. Originally called Virginia City, Tin Cup was a mining town back in the1880′s through the 1890′s with almost 2,000 residents at its peak. By 1920 the town only had a few residents.

Taylor Park, Colorado offers hundreds of miles of trails but one of the best ATV rides the area has to offer is the ride over Taylor Pass to Pearl Pass and Montezuma Basin. This is a long rough rocky ride but the views are out of this world, everything from panoramic to open meadows carpeted with wild flowers to barren valleys.

Taylor Reservoir, also know as Taylor Park Reservoir, is nestled in the Gunnison National Forest near the top of the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 9,400 feet. This area is ideal for camping, hiking, motorcycling and ATVing, fishing, hunting, and photography. Taylor Park is an excellent place to come to relax in the great outdoors and enjoy just about any outdoor recreation.
