It’s Thanksgiving and that means it is time to give thanks. I have a lot to be thankful for this year as bad as things may seem. I believe we all have a lot to be thankful for. First off is our Freedom and to that I thank our United States Armed Forces here and over seas. These courageous men and women ensure our freedom every day and they must not go unrecognized.
Next I am thankful for my family, it is from them I gain my strength to fight off illness and hardships to continue to pursue a better life for them. It is my belief that the power and love of family is stronger than any religion and everyone should nurture and embrace this for it is what makes us who we are.
I am also thankful for my health as I have had some health issues this past year but I continued to persevere through exercise and support of my family and friends despite the poor efforts of our national health care system, which continues to get worse every year.
I am thankful to be able to continue riding ATVs and ATV camping. For the right to ride I thank all of the organizations that continue to fight the anti-motorist groups and the government. Organizations like the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council (NOHVCC).
The AMA offers great resources such as current laws relating to off-road vehicles, position statements by lawmakers so that you can clearly understand which ones support the sport and action alerts so that you are properly informed on the issues. The NOHVCC website is packed with great information on news, tools for OHV-related advocacy and opportunities to join in on the fight.
I also want to thank the many volunteers and ATV clubs who maintain existing trails and work with private land owners, BLM and the Forestry Service to develop new trails and maps. Please help support these groups and organizations so we can continue to enjoy ATVing and ATV camping.
